Director Tate Taylor gained critical acclaim for his 2011 film, The Help, and it looks like he has another powerful film under his belt. Collider has shared the first trailer for Taylor’s next directorial adventure, a James Brown biopic entitled Get On Up.
The cast behind this film includes Chadwick Boseman, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Dan Aykroyd, Nelsan Ellis, Lennie James, Tika Sumpter, and Jill Scott. This is Boseman’s second time portraying a historical icon as he also recently played Jackie Robinson in last year’s 42.
“In his follow-up to the four-time Academy Award®-nominated blockbuster The Help, Tate Taylor directs 42’s Chadwick Boseman as James Brown in Get on Up. Based on the incredible life story of the Godfather of Soul, the film will give a fearless look inside the music, moves and moods of Brown, taking audiences on the journey from his impoverished childhood to his evolution into one of the most influential figures of the 20th century. Boseman is joined in the drama by Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Nelsan Ellis, Lennie James, Tika Sumpter, Jill Scott and Dan Aykroyd.”

Entertainment Weekly has shared the first official photo of Oscar-winning actor Sir Ben Kingsley in the film adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s novel, Ender’s Game. Gavin Hood adapted the novel into a screenplay and directed the film that is being distributed by Summit Entertainment.
This new still gives fans a look at Kingsley as his mysterious character, Mazer Rackham. Kingsley’s character is of Maori decent and so his face is tattooed with intricate Maori designs.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kingsley talked about the tattoo and getting to consult with a Maori tribal expert: “Every gesture in the tattoo carries family history, family struggles – it’s your past. I was so enthralled. He’s in quite a contained, stylized uniform but then this wonderful face tells his warrior history.”
Plus, the actor talked about the script and his character: “In the script, which I think is beautifully written, what come across is the authority and mystery. There’s quite a lot said about him in the story before you see him — by the recruits and by his fellow officers — and that’s useful as far as preparations.”

Fans of Orson Scott Card’s 1985 novel, Ender’s Game, will be very excited to know that the first official stills for the Gavin Hood-directed film adaptation were recently released.
Ender’s Game stars Harrison Ford, Sir Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, Andrea Powell, Abigail Breslin, Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, and many more. Take a look at the full cast list here.
According to Entertainment Weekly, it has been difficult for the film industry to adapt the novel into a film due to its complex themes. Plus, the fact that it follows children and young adults who are “military recruits fighting each other in a futuristic, space-set Battle School” doesn’t make it any easier. However, I think that Hunger Games has paved the way for this film adaptation as these types of stories have become more acceptable in modern, mainstream pop culture.
Have a look at the new stills below and let me know what you think in the comments below! Ender’s Game is currently set to hit theaters November 1, 2013.
