Casting News – Adam DeVine to Return for “Pitch Perfect 2”

Production on Pitch Perfect 2 is starting to pick up and it was recently announced that Hailee Steinfeld has joined the cast for the awaited sequel. Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Adam DeVine will be returning as his character Bumper.

Right now there is no confirmation that Bumper’s Treblemakers will also be making a return to challenge the Barden Bellas. However, bringing back this fan-favorite character seems to suggest this might be the case.

Production Developments – Sequels in the Works for “Pitch Perfect” and “Snow White and the Huntsman”

Universal Pictures is always a very busy studio between developing new projects and promoting projects that will be reaching audiences in theaters. Today, at CinemaCon studio chairman Adam Fogelson announced a few exciting things about sequels for Pitch Perfect and Snow White and the Huntsman.

First, it was announced that a sequel for Pitch Perfect is officially under development and the studio is hoping for a 2015 release date. Pitch Perfect starred Rebel Wilson, Anna Kendrick, Anna Camp, Skylar Astin, Brittany Snow, Ester Dean, Alexis Knapp, Hanna Mae Lee, Elizabeth Banks, and Ben Platt and was directed by Jason Moore. As of right now there is no official word on if these cast members or Moore will be returning to work on the sequel, but the project is still in early development so we should hear more later on.

Additionally, it was announced that the studio is also hoping for a 2015 release date for the Snow White and the Huntsman sequel. Back in December, Kristen Stewart stated that she will be reprising her role in the sequel. However, there has not been any news about the possibility of Chris Hemsworth and Sam Claflin will also be returning. Fogelson confirmed last month that director Rupert Sanders will not be returning to work on the sequel.

Seven Featurettes and a New “On My Own” Trailer released for “Les Misérables”

Since there is only one more day until Tom Hooper’s Les Misérables hits theaters, I thought that I should write a post about a few  new featurettes and a new trailer that were recently released. You can watch all of these videos exclusively on YouTube and I will share links below.

I previously posted about four other featurettes that came out earlier in December. I warned Les Misérables fans, if you do not want to spoil anything then it might be best you not watch these videos until after you see the movie. Well for this post, I will reiterate that warning, especially if you do not want to spoil anything.

The first of the featurettes includes short interviews with some of the cast, director Tom Hooper, and producer Cameron Mackintosh. In this featurette, they are all talking about Jackman and how he truly embodies the character of Jean Valjean and the amount of effort that he put into the role. The rest of the featurettes include  a look at sound mixing and editing, a look at the scale of the opening number of the film, a look at how Samantha Barks got her role,  and a look at how the soundtrack for the film was scored. Plus, there is another featurette that talks about how the Broadway actor, Colm Wilkinson, starred as Jean Valjean when the musical first opened and is now playing the bishop in the film. Finally, the last featurette has interviews with the cast and production teams as they talk about the set pieces and filming at the famous Pinewood Studios.

The trailer features Samantha Barks as Éponine as she is singing “On My Own.” There are also a few new clips intertwined with Samantha’s wonderful performance. Watch the exclusive “On My Own” Trailer here.  Plus, here are the links to all of the featurettes:

Four Behind-the-Scenes Featurettes for “Les Misérables”

I don’t know about you guys, but I really enjoy watching behind-the-scenes footage and learning about the different aspects that went into a film’s production. As you can imagine, I was quite happy and pleasantly surprised when I found on The Collider that there were four new behind-the-scenes featurettes released for Tom Hooper’s Les Misérables this morning!

Just a warning to Les Misérables fans, if you do not want to spoil anything then it might be best you not watch these videos. How about I just explain a little bit about what each featurette explores and you can determine if you want to watch or not from there!

As previously mentioned, there are four featurettes. The first one looks at the world of costuming and the costume designers explain some of the choices behind the costumes. The next two featurettes are about hair, make-up, and the new song that was written for the film  entitled “Suddenly.” Finally, the fourth featurette looks at set and production design. Just like in the costume featurette, the hair and make-up artists and the production designers talk a bit about their style and design choices.

Here are links to all of these amazing featurettes:

Featurette #1 – Costumes

Featurette #2 – Hair and Make-up

Featurette #3 – Original New Song
