Movie Exclusive – First Look at Open Road Film’s “Parkland”

An exclusive new poster and the first images have been released for Open Road Film’s awaited historical drama, Parkland. This film is based off on the day U.S. President John F. Kennedy was assassinated and how it affected the staff of Dallas’ Parkland Hospital.

Parkland has a very diverse and talented cast that includes actors Paul Giamatti, Zac Efron, Jacki Weaver, Billy Bob Thorton, Jeremy Strong, and Marcia Gay Harden. Efron is playing Doctor Jim Carrico, who was the first physician to tend to President Kennedy after he was brought into the emergency room. Giamatti will be portraying Abraham Zapruder, a clothing manufacturer who ended up recording the events of the assassination with his personal video camera. Thorton will be playing Secret Service Agent Forrest Sorrels, who was responsible for connecting with Zapruder and collecting his footage for development and evidence purposes. Finally, Strong is portraying Lee Harvey Oswald, the man who was accused with killing President Kennedy.

These new images from the film give us our first glimpse at the actors as their characters and the stylized world of this historical drama. If you look carefully, you realize that the American flag on the poster is at half-mast, which effectively sets the tone for the story and the film itself.

Movie Exclusive – First Official Poster for Disney’s “Saving Mr. Banks”

Entertainment Weekly has shared an exclusive new poster for Disney’s next major live-action feature, Saving Mr. Banks. Even though this poster is quite simplistic, it represents the overarching theme and main conflict of the film.

Tom Hanks is playing the iconic role of Walt Disney and Emma Thompson is playing the role of Mary Poppins author P.L. Travers. The author was originally against turning her beloved novel into a film and very protective of her work, but Walt Disney was determined to show her what he could do with the story. During the process of making Mary Poppins, Travers was very involved and opinionated, having something to say about every aspect of the film.

Saving Mr. Banks also stars Paul Giamatti, Jason Schwartzman, Bradley Whitford, Colin Farrell, Ruth Wilson, B.J. Novak, Rachel Griffiths, and Kathy Baker. This film looks fantastic and I am personally looking forward to seeing it later this year. If you have not seen the first official trailer yet, be sure to watch it here!

Saving Mr. Banks - poster

What do you think of this new poster for the film? What do you think of the cast involved? Do you think the first trailer revealed too much of the storyline? Saving Mr. Banks has two premiere dates with a limited release on December 13 and a wide release December 20, 2013!

Movie Exclusive – Stunning First Trailer for “Saving Mr. Banks”

Those of you who are fans of Disney and all of the great movies produced by the major company will be excited to hear about the company’s next project, Saving Mr. Banks. And you may also be excited to hear a trailer and an exclusive first still have finally been released!

In my opinion, Disney could have another Oscar-winning film on their hands with this one. Not only is does it feature a 1961 Disneyland, when the park was just six years old, but it has an amazing cast and a strong story. And in addition to those amazing qualities, writer-director-producer John Lee Hancock is directing the film.

The story follows Walt Disney and Austrilian-born British author P.L. Travers, who wrote the novel Mary Poppins. As they go through the creative process of bringing Travers’ novel to life on screen, she is very protective of her work and has very strong opinions about almost every aspect of the film. However, Disney is trying to find a way to ensure Travers is proud of the project and as the process continues he finds out the truth behind her motivation for Mary Poppins.

Screen Shot 2013-07-11 at 11.19.55 AM

Tom Hanks is portraying Walt Disney, Emma Thompson portraying P.L. Travers, and B.J. Novak and Jason Schwartzman are portraying the musical Sherman Brothers. For those of you who may not know, the Sherman Brotthers were responsible for writing most of the music in the Mary Poppins film.

Plus, actors Paul Giamatti, Colin Farrell, Ruth Wilson, Bradley Whitford, and Kathy Baker are all part of the cast. Watch the stunning and wonderful new trailer for Saving Mr. Banks here.

What do you think of this new trailer and the still? What do you think of the cast behind this film? Do you think Saving Mr. Banks could be a potential award contender?
