2) Philomena has a talented cast that includes Judi Dench, Steve Coogan, Michelle Fairley, Charlie Murphy, Sophie Kennedy Clark, Mare Winningham, and Charles Edwards. Here is the official synopsis (via Apple Movie Trailers): Based on the 2009 investigative book by BBC correspondent Martin Sixsmith, The Lost Child of Philomena Lee, Philomena focuses on the efforts of Philomena Lee (Dench), mother to a boy conceived out of wedlock—something her Irish-Catholic community didn’t have the highest opinion of—and given away for adoption in the United States. In following church doctrine, she was forced to sign a contract that wouldn’t allow for any sort of inquiry into the son’s whereabouts. After starting a family years later in England and, for the most part, moving on with her life, Lee meets Sixsmith (Coogan), a BBC reporter with whom she decides to discover her long-lost son. Philomena will be theatrically released on November 22, 2013.

3) Belle stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Tom Wilkinson, Emily Watson, Sarah Gadon, Penelope Wilton, Miranda Richardson, Tom Felton, Sam Reid, and Matthew Goode. Here is an official synopsis (via Apple Movie Trailers): Belle is inspired by the true story of Dido Elizebeth Belle (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), the illegitimate mixed race daughter of a Royal Navy Admiral (Matthew Goode). Raised by her aristocratic great-uncle Lord Mansfield (Tom Wilkinson) and his wife (Emily Watson), Belle’s lineage affords her certain privileges, yet the color of her skin prevents her from fully participating in the traditions of her social standing. Left to wonder if she will ever find love, Belle falls for an idealistic young vicar’s son bent on change who, with her help, shapes Lord Mansfield’s role as Lord Chief Justice to end slavery in England. Belle premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 8, 2013 and will be released in theaters on May 2, 2014.

Exclusive Movie Poster for “What Maisie Knew”

Entertainment Weekly recently shared an exclusive poster for the upcoming film, What Maisie Knew. This poster is absolutely stunning and it features seasoned actors Julianne Moore, Alexander Skarsgard, and young actress Onata Aprile.

What Maisie Knew is based off of book by Henry James that was published in 1897 and directed by Scott McGehee and David Siegel. The novel is about a child who goes back and forth between the two homes of her divorced parents every six months. However, the film adaptation has been reworked into a more “modernized” setting.

Moore plays an older rock star, Suzanna, and Steve Coogan plays an art dealer, Beale. Both Suzanna and Beale are selfish and focused on their careers and not how their divorce is affecting their daughter, Maisie (Aprile). Suzanna remarries a younger bartender, Lincoln (Skarsgard), after Beale marries the nanny the hired to take care of Maisie (Scottish actress Joanna Vanderham).

Does this sound like a film you would be interested in seeing? Do you think this film will generate any potential awards buzz? What Maisie Knew premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) this September and is set to hit theaters this May. Take a look at this stunning poster below:
