Director J.J. Abrams made a special announcement from the set of Star Wars: Episode VII this morning! In a video address, the director revealed that fans have an opportunity to enter a contest to be an extra in the highly awaited Star Wars instalment.
He also announced the launch of a charity called “Star Wars: Force for Change” for which Disney has committed $1 million. To enter the contest, fans can directly donate at Omaze.com/StarWars for a chance to appear in Star Wars: Episode VII.

• Airfare and accommodations to London for one winner and a guest
• Behind-the-scenes access on the closed set of Star Wars: Episode VII as VIP guests of J.J. Abrams
• Winner will have the opportunity to meet members of the cast
• Winner and their guest will then be transformed by makeup and costume teams into a Star Wars character and filmed for a scene in Star Wars: Episode VII
Some exciting news for Star Wars fans has come to light this morning! We finally got our much awaited list of cast members for Star Wars: Episode VII.
According to the official website (StarWars.com) actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will be in the new instalment. Original stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker will also be joining the cast.

Lucasfilm and Disney have finally settled on a release date for the first film in the new Star Wars trilogy. All of the previous Star Wars films have been released in May, but fans probably will be surprised to hear that is not the case for this next Star Wars adventure.
The companies have decided to release Star Wars: Episode VII on December 18, 2015. Recently, director J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan announced that Michael Arndt will no longer be writing the screenplay. Instead, Abrams and Kasdan have decided that they will be co-writing the screenplay.
Disney studio chief, Alan Horn, addressed rumors that Abrams was worried about the shooting schedule by stating: “We’re very excited to share the official 2015 release date for Star Wars: Episode VII, where it will not only anchor the popular holiday filmgoing season but also ensure our extraordinary filmmaking team has the time needed to deliver a sensational picture,”
According to Entertainment Weekly, major sets and costumes are already being designed and the film is set to start shooting at London’s Pinewood Studios in the spring. What do you think of this news?
