Casting News – Emma Stone and Joaquin Phoenix Join the Cast of Woody Allen’s Next Film

Stone and Phoenix signed onto Woody Allen’s next film, which is expected to begin filming in July. The project is currently untitled, with no plot details available. The film also has no distributor, but Sony Pictures is in the top spot.

With Stone coming off a big weekend at the box office with the recent premiere of her film The Amazing Spider-Man 2, this could be a beneficial deal for Allen and potential distributors for the film.

What do you think about the cast so far? Stay tuned for more details as they become available.

Movie Exclusive – Jamie Foxx in Talks to Star in New “Annie” Adaptation

News has surfaced that actor Jamie Foxx is currently in negotiations to star  in a new film adaptation of the classic musical, Annie. If Foxx gets the role, he will be starring along side actress Quvenzhane Wallis, who is playing Annie.

Foxx is reportedly in the running for playing Benjamin Stacks, who is very similar to Daddy Warbucks, the traditional character Annie fans are familiar with.

This new adaptation is “an update” from the original musical and comic book strip and it is being distributed by Sony Pictures. Plus, this remake is being directed by Will Gluck and is produced by Will Smith, James Lassiter, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and Jay-Z. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gluck has worked with screenwriters Emma Thompson and Aline Brosh McKenna on recent revisions of the script.

Sony is aiming for production to start this fall and a 2014 release date. However, the film is still in early development so hopefully more news will become available as production continues!

What do you think of this potential casting choice? Do you think they should stay closer to the original musical and original story of Annie? Would you be interested in seeing this film when it releases?
