It has been exclusively announced that director Sam Mendes will indeed be returning to direct the 24th James Bond film. The next instalment in the popular British film franchise currently does not have an official title. However, it has been confirmed that actor Daniel Craig will also be returning to the franchise as 007.
Sony and MGM must realize that the production team used for Skyfall created a very successful Bond film as screenwriter John Logan will also be returning to write the script.
It is interesting that Mendes has decided to return to the franchise because he publicly stated that he wanted to devote himself to working on the West End stage production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory before moving on to another film project.
In a recent statement, Mendes had this to say about returning to the franchise: “I am very pleased that by giving me the time I need to honour all my theatre commitments, the producers have made it possible for me to direct Bond 24. I very much look forward to taking up the reins again, and to working with Daniel Craig, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for a second time.”
The next Bond film is currently set to hit theaters in the UK on October 23, 2015 and on November 6, 2015 in the United States. What do you think of this interesting production news? Are you a fan of the James Bond franchise? Who is your favorite Bond? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
