U2 Releases Entire Album on iTunes For Free

U2 gave their fans a great surprise today – they released their thirteenth album, Songs of Innocence, on iTunes for free.

Interscope Records made a press release stating that the new album, which was gifted to fans ahead of the October 14 release date, is the band’s “most personal work to date” and that it was inspired by the band’s earliest influences in music, which includes anything from 70s rock to 80s electronica.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Bono said that the band wanted to make a very personal album.

“Let’s try to figure out why we wanted to be in a band, the relationships around the band, our friendships, our lovers, our family. The whole album is first journeys—first journeys geographically, spiritually, sexually. And that’s hard. But we went there,” says the frontman.

Some of the songs included on the album are “Song for Someone”, “Volcano”, and “The Miracle”. This is the fordt album U2 has released in five years.

Listen to one of the new songs, entitled “California (There Is No End to Love)” here:

9. “Hideaway” by Kiesza

This song is another electronic song, but the Canadian-born singer-songwriter has a unique voice, not to mention the kick ass video.

8. “Boom Clap” by Charli XCX

This song is from the soundtrack of what is likely going to be the YA movie of the summer, The Fault in Our Stars! The song is super catchy, and will get stuck in your head!

7. “Ain’t It Fun” by Paramore

This song by the Franklin, Tennessee based alternative band is a new sound from them. They incorporated a gospel choir in this song. To truly understand the song, you’ve got to watch the video!

6. “Best Day of My Life” by American Authors

This song has a more alternative/indie sound to it, but definitely gives off a distinctly summer feeling! You’ve likely heard it on the radio recently!

Jeremy Fisher recently released an album, titled “The Lemon Squeeze”, and this is the first single the Canadian had released. Serena Ryder brings an element to the song that put it on the list!

Honestly, it’s Ed Sheeran. Anything he does is good.

3. “She Looks So Perfect” by 5 Seconds of Summer

Australian-based 5 Seconds of Summer definitely have a summer hit on their hands with one! This song is a perfect mix of punk and pop! If you haven’t given them a chance, you definitely should!
