New Official Stills Released for “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire excitement for today just keeps getting better and better! Entertainment Weekly has released five more stills from the highly anticipated sequel in the Hunger Games franchise. Earlier this morning, an exclusive EW cover and a still were also released.

These five (5) new stills give fans a look at Katniss and Peeta on the Victory Tour, Gale being detained by Peacekeepers, our first look at Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee, a sneak peek at President Snow, and a look at Katniss’ mother and a more mature Prim! Take a look at all of the photos in the gallery below! What do you think of these new stills? Does this make you more excited for the movie?

Also, here are some exclusive quotes from the interviews that Entertainment Weekly conducted:

”These are kids growing up in war who physically, emotionally can’t love somebody,” says Jennifer Lawrence about the uncomfortable triangle between District 12′s battle-weary Katniss, Peeta, and her childhood friend Gale that began in The Hunger Games. ”Katniss thinks she can’t have a crush on a boy because she’s worried about survival every single day. And she can’t be a normal 16-year-old meeting her friend out in the woods and practicing kissing because that’s not the world that they live in.”

”Jen and Liam have amazing chemistry,” says director Francis Lawrence of his young stars. ”They have a nice moment right before Katniss is reaped that is the very first thing we shot. And then when Gale has been brought in from the whipping, that’s another really nice moment they have alone.” ”This is the book where you have to understand the pull Katniss feels to both Peeta and Gale,” say producer Nina Jacobson.

”Pressure, pressure, the pressure is on,” says good-natured Sam Claflin about stepping into the net of District 4′s charismatic golden boy. ”I’m on Twitter and so many people are like, ‘Don’t mess this up, or we will kill you.’ People are just worried that I’m not going to be as sex god enough as Finnick should be. I’ve literally had four months of eating nothing but chicken and asparagus. I just want a burger and a beer.”

“Catching Fire” – Photos of the Cast filming in Hawaii

Photos have been circulating online of Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Sam Claflin, and Lynn Cohen filming scenes on for Catching Fire in Hawaii.

These photos give fans the first official look at the Quarter Quell arena from Catching Fire. It looks like they were filming the scene when the tributes enter in the arena as the actors are on platforms very similar to those used in the first Hunger Games film. In my opinion, this is a good sign because it shows that Francis Laurence and his crew are working to maintain the stylistic world of Panem Gary Ross created in the first film.

What do you think of these photos? Are you excited and anxiously waiting for a Catching Fire trailer? Let me know what you think in the comments below!

“Hunger Games” News – Francis Lawrence to direct “Mockingjay” films

Francis Lawrence became the director for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire after Gary Ross announced that he would not be directing the next film. Ross felt that he would not have enough time to prepare and do the film justice. Back in July, it was announced that Lionsgate had made the decision to divide Mockingjay into two films. Lionsgate was also reportedly searching for a director who could handle the tight production schedule proposed for the final films of the franchise.

The Collider has reported that Lawrence has officially signed on to direct both of the Mockingjay films. His directing credentials include films such as Water for Elephants, I Am Legend, and Constantine.

This may be a good sign and could mean that Lionsgate trusts Lawrence with the franchise. What do you think of this decision? Are you looking forward to hearing more about Catching Fire production?
