Casting News MegaPost – Several Major Roles Cast for “Divergent” Film Adaptation

Fans of Veronica Roth’s young adult novel, Divergent, will be happy to know that casting and production development has finally started to pick up for the film adaptation! It is widely known now that Shailene Woodley has been cast as the female lead, Tris, and Kate Winslet has also signed on for the project. However, until recently, Winslet’s role was kept secret. It has now come to light that Winslet will be playing the character Jeanine Mathews.

Plus, it was also recently announced that Theo James was cast in the coveted male lead, Four. James is mainly known for his role in Underworld: Awakening and he is currently working on a new television show, Golden Boy. Fans of Downton Abbey might also recognize him as he played Kemal Pamuk in one of the first episodes of the show.

Just the other day, it was publicized that actors Maggie Q, Zoe Kravitz, Ansel Elgort, and Jai Courtney have also joined the cast. Maggie will be portraying Tori, a tattoo artist in Dauntless who becomes friends with Tris. Kravtiz will be playing Christina, one of Tris’ close friends.  Elgort will be playing Caleb, Tris’ brother, who leaves Abegnation and joins Erudite. Last, but not least, Courtney will be portraying the role of Dauntless leader, Eric.

Finally, rumors have started to circulate that Aaron Eckhart, Ray Stevenson, and Miles Teller are all in talks to join the film. Divergent is going to be directed by Neil Burger and currently set to hit theaters March 21, 2014!

What do you think of all of these casting choices? Who do you think Eckhart, Stevenson, and Teller could portray? Are you excited to see Theo James as Four? Do you think Lionsgate made the right decision being that James is still relatively unknown? Who is your favorite Divergent character?

Trailer MegaPost – “Gangster Squad,” “Argo,” “Savages,” and “People Like Us”

Being movie junkies in my household, my family and I love to check out trailers for new movies that are coming out on YouTube, Apple Trailers, and IMDb. I constantly check Apple Trailers for new and interesting trailers and I love sharing them with others! It is always so exciting when I can find an awesome trailer for a new movie and then get, say, ten people, excited about that movie. So what I am going to start doing – at least once a week – is a trailer MegaPost. In this post, I am going to share all of my favorite trailers for that week. 🙂 Here we go:

1. Gangster Squad:

With an AMAZING cast like this: Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Nick Nolte, Robert Patrick, Michael Peña, Giovanni Ribisi, Anthony Mackie, Emma Stone, and finally, Sean Penn – how can you go wrong? This film is set to release September 7, 2012, and I cannot wait to see this stellar cast work together in this high stakes action film! Gangster Squad is set in 1949 Los Angeles and is a retelling of events surrounding the LAPD’s efforts to take back their city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.

2. Argo:

Once again this film has a stellar cast: Ben Affleck, Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin, John Goodman, Kerry Bishé, Kyle Chandler, Rory Cochrane, Christopher Denham, Tate Donovan, Clea DuVall, Victor Garber, Zeljko Ivanek, Richard Kind, Scoot McNairy, Chris Messina, Michael Parks, and Taylor Schilling. Ben Affleck is not only starring in this film, he directed it. As the Iranian revolution reaches a boiling point, a CIA ‘exfiltration’ specialist concocts a risky plan to free six Americans who have found shelter at the home of the Canadian ambassador. Argo is set to release October 12, 2012, and this is another film that I am looking forward to.

3. Savages:

With a cast that includes: Taylor Kitsch, Blake Lively, Aaron Johnson, John Travolta, Benicio Del Toro, Salma Hayek, Emile Hirsch, and Demian Bichir – this movie is already on the right path. In this Oliver Stone-directed film, two friends, Ben (Johnson) and Chon (Kitsch) get involved in drug dealing and face off against the Mexican drug cartel who kidnapped their shared girlfriend, Ophelia (Lively). This film has a summer release and is set to come out July 6, 2012.

4. People Like Us:

Finally, here is yet another film with a fantastic cast that includes: Chris Pine, Elizabeth Banks, Olivia Wilde, Michael Hall D’Addario, Philip Baker Hall, Mark Duplass, and Michelle Pfeiffer. In this movie, Sam (Pine) is in process of fufilling his father’s last wishes, and he uncovers that he has a 30-year-old sister Frankie (Banks) whom he never knew about. As their relationship develops, Sam is forced to rethink everything he thought he knew about this family–and re-examine his own life choices in the process. This movie is set for release on June 29, 2012.

Leave comments about your favorite trailers and if you will go and see any of these films once they come out. 🙂
