Television Exclusive – Actress Katey Sagal Cast in Guest-Starring Role on “Glee”

Fans of the Glee character, Artie Abrams (played by Kevin McHale), will be interested to know that we will be getting to see more of his life at home near the end of this season.

Ryan Murphy recently announced, via Twitter, that Sons of Anarchy actress, Katey Sagal will be playing Artie’s mom later on this season. In a tweet, Murphy shared: “So thrilled to announce my friend Katey Sagal is playing Artie’s mom on Glee! There is nothing this woman can’t do!”

Sagal will join the show near the end of the season in Episode No. 421, which is entitled “Wonder-ful.” The cast and songs performed in this episode will pay homage to Stevie Wonder.

The casting directors and Murphy may have listened to McHale’s wishes because last year, during a Comic-Con panel, he said that Sagal is his dream mom and he would love to have her join the show as a guest-star. Plus, she does have a singing and song-writing background so she may be a good fit for the part.

What do you think of this casting choice? Do you think Sagal is the right fit to play Artie’s mom? Do you think she will have a chance to perform a song? Who is your favorite character on Glee?

“Glee” – Teasers for “The Break Up” Episode

The Hollywood Reporter posted an article this afternoon giving some teasers for tomorrow’s episode of Glee, which is entitled “The Break Up.” According to the article, this is what us Gleeks need to keep an eye out for:

“1. Brittany continues her streak of making new friends, learning she has more in common with Blaine than either of them expected.

2. Finn’s military career — specifically his lack of one after he arrived at Rachel’s out of uniform — is explained. As is his four months of going MIA, which could back to hurt him in the end.

3. Kitty lets her crazy flag fly (look out for the Rapture!) and it rubs a few people the wrong way.

4. Kitty’s boy toy Jake, meanwhile, continues to bond with fellow newbie Marley and he confides in her with not one, not two but three secrets about himself.

5. Brittany and Santana ‘shippers will have reasons to cheer — and cry. While there’s PDA, it may not all be happy. Bonus: Naya Rivera‘s rendition of Taylor Swift’s “Mine” will have you heading for iTunes mid-song.

6. Someone in a long-term relationship is having cyber relations, and he or she will wind up paying the price for the tryst.

7. Will’s time at McKinley could be severely reduced when a new job with a blue ribbon opens up for the guy who’s admittedly stuck in a rut and uninspired. His plan for Emma, meanwhile, doesn’t quite win him a ribbon of any color.

8. More than one familiar face will return to McKinley, with one alum coming back in tears.

9. More than one couple will end up heading to Splitsville, though the circumstances of how each breakup differ. The choices: cheating, being mature and bad timing.

10. Finn and Rachel go on an incredibly awkward double date with Kurt and Blaine. How odd is it? When you’re excited to see Brody while Finn Hudson is in town, you know there’s a problem.”

You can watch a sneak peek of tomorrow’s episode here. By the sounds of it, this episode could be pretty emotional so get your tissues ready Gleeks.

“Glee” – Season Four and Premiere Exclusives

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Glee co-creator Brad Falchuk talked about tonight’s season four premiere and what we should be looking out for throughout the rest of this season! Here is what he had to say:

”We’re going to challenge every relationship. Even with the most solid ones there’s always a new challenge. Because that’s real. That’s what happens. You graduate high school and one person stays and one person goes—none of those should ever last. Sometimes they break up and they get back together, but we’re gonna really push them all. They’re (New Directions) looking for the New Rachel—that girl or boy, who’s gonna be that star in there? Who’s gonna carry the solos and be the ambitious one that pushes everybody else? The New Directions won, they’re stars, so they’re dealing with that and their popularity, and they have to recruit new members, which is a different experience now because now everybody wants to be in the glee club. But it’s hard to find the right people and so it’s a different challenge.”

And according to the same article on Entertainment Weekly, here are some things that us “Gleeks” need to keep an eye out for this season:

“Other things to look for this season:

  • Kurt may not have gotten into NYADA but that doesn’t mean he’ll stay in Ohio. “He doesn’t go to NYADA. But he and Rachel get a place together way out in Brooklyn in the worst neighborhood.” Look for Santana to weasel her way out there too.
  • Puck’s half-brother shows up in the premiere. Says Falchuk, “Puck didn’t know about him. And he’s not like Puck at all. It’s a little different. He has a different bad attitude.”
  • Sarah Jessica Parker’s Vogue editor character, Isabelle Klempt, whom Kurt gets an internship with, debuts in episode three, called “Makeover.”
  • Sue (Jane Lynch) has given birth but there’s still some unanswered questions. “We don’t know who the celebrity father is just yet. You’ll find out.” Please let it be Josh Groban.”

What do you think of all of this information? Are you looking forward to the premiere tonight? Are you also looking forward to the rest of the season?

“Entertainment Weekly” interviews the new “Glee” Costume Designer

Entertainment Weekly recently sat down with the Glee‘s new head costume designer, Elizabeth Martucci, and asked her some questions about Kurt and Rachel’s looks for this season. Martucci has now taken over the wardrobe department after assisting Lou Eyrich, the previous wardrobe head, for two years. And Eyrich had to leave Glee as she is know costuming the cast of American Horror Story.

This is what Martucci had to say when Entertainment Weekly talked to her about costuming the Glee cast for Season Four:

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Did Lea Michele and Chris Colfer have input on how their character’s style would change once they moved to New York City?

ELIZABETH MARTUCCI: I always enjoy hearing the actors’ thoughts, it’s a collaboration. I’ve been with the show since the second season, so we’re not starting fresh. We have relationships and there’s already trust there.

EW: One of the things that doesn’t appear to have changed is that Rachel still loves a signature necklace.

MARTUCCI: Rachel has an iconic necklace each season — we’ve been using necklaces from jewelry designer Ryan Ryan since the second season — in the past we’ve done an ‘R,’ ‘Finn,’ a star and an apple. Lea and I were discussing where the storyline was going and she hit on Carrie Bradshaw’s ‘Carrie’ nameplate from Sex and the City. We made a version of that for Rachel, it’s a fun character piece for her move to New York City.

EW: Kurt was already wearing McQueen and Gucci back in Lima, what does he wear to the offices of Vogue?

MARTUCCI: Kurt has always been fashion-forward, but his Vogue [internship] is something we can really have fun with. We dressed him in Balenciaga, Hugo Boss and Dior and also brought back pieces like his hippo brooch to remind him of where he’s come from. These Paul Smith pants have a shark tooth print on them. When he’s at Vogue, he’s swimming with the sharks.

EW: Unlike Kurt, Rachel isn’t into contemporary style. How does her retro look change?

MARTUCCI: At the beginning of season 4, we see an updated version of Rachel’s classic season 1 style. A little bit of East coast prep with the berets and knee socks and other fun elements. Part way through the season, she gets some help and her style really starts to shift.

EW: Who’s the good samaritan that helps Rachel update her wardrobe?

MARTUCCI: When Kurt gets his internship at Vogue, he has a style intervention for Rachel. That’s when she really embraces New York City and her new life as a young adult. Her outfits become more sophisticated and body-conscious. Once she makes the transition, you’ll see her wearing edgier clothes from lines like Trina Turk, Rag & Bone and Alexander Wang.

EW: Other than the script, what inspired Kurt and Rachel’s new looks?

MARTUCCI: Little things can inspire a great costume, so I keep my eyes open everywhere I go. I haven’t been to Fashion Week in a while because the hours and the pace of [working on Glee] are so demanding, but I definitely watch the shows online. I also follow fashion blogs like The Sartorialist to keep me current.

EW; Does staying current mean that you get to shop a lot?

MARTUCCI: We shop a lot. Department stores like Barneys, costume houses, vintage shops like Decades and The Way We Wore, we run all over town. For special scenes, we’ll borrow gowns from designer showrooms, but for the most part we make or buy everything.

EW: What’s one style rule men could learn from Kurt?

MARTUCCI: Kurt is more sophisticated than in previous seasons. He’s starting to grow up and trying to find his place in the fast-paced fashion world. Fit makes such a difference in clothing, so having the time to fit and tailor it properly really sells the clothing and makes [the wearer] look great.

EW: People say that New Yorkers wear too much black. Will Rachel’s new wardrobe be less colorful?

MARTUCCI:With a transition to a big city it’s natural for an artist to assimilate into their surroundings. Rachel has been dreaming about living in New York her whole life, so she’s bringing her fashion A-game.”

“Glee” – Season Four Cast Portraits and Exclusive Photos

New cast portraits and images from the first episode of Season Four of Glee have officially been released. The first episode of the season is entilted “The New Rachel” because as the new school year begins, “New Directions” needs to find their next star performer.

These new photos feature most of the characters we love, of course, and some of the new characters that we will be meeting for the first time this season. However, Dianna Agron (Quinn) and Jayma Mays (Emma) were not in any of these photos because they were both “on location” filming other projects when the photoshot took place. That does not mean we will not be seeing them this season though, so Gleeks, not to worry!

So what do you think of these portraits and photos? What do you think of the first look at some of the new characters? Are you anxiously awaiting the Season Four premiere? Be sure to share your thoughts in the comments below! Remember Season Four premieres Thursday, September 13.

“Glee” – Two New Season Four Posters

Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy has been giving fans little sneak peeks of season four on his Twitter; including a first look at Kate Hudson‘s character. Just recently, Murphy tweeted images of two new poster pieces of poster art for season four of the hit show.

The first poster is of Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) and her NYADA dance instructor, Cassandra July (Kate Hudson). And the other poster is a group shot, which features new and returning cast members. However, Quinn (Dianna Agron) is not in this particular group shot and this has caused some worry amongst those who are fans of Quinn Fabray. Another factor that caused fans to worry, was the fact that the poster has signs pointing to New York, Los Angeles, Lima, St. Louis, which are all various cities where McKinley’s alumni are now living, but there is no arrow reading “New Haven,” where Quinn is supposed to be attending college. Does this mean will we not be seeing any more Agron’s character?

Well, Ryan Murphy recently tweeted: “Gleeks, please relax. Dianna is still on the show. We love her and have great plans for Quinn.#QuinnFabrayLives.”

Take a look at these new posters and let me know what you think in the comments below! And remember season four premieres on Thursday, September 13, 2012!
