Paramount and Skydance Productions announced Smith’s addition to the cast this morning via Twitter: “We don’t have a TARDIS, but we do have a Timelord: we’re pleased to welcome Matt Smith to the cast of #Terminator.”

The movie is to be released in July 2015 and is directed by Alan Taylor, who also directed Thor.

Since Smith’s departure from BBC drama Doctor Who – in which he is succeeded in the role of the Doctor by Peter Capaldi – he has been on stage in London performing American Psycho, and will be seen on the big screen in the Ryan Gosling directed Lost River, with a North American release date to be announced.

Movie Exclusive – Six New Character Posters Released for “The Great Gatsby”

Warner Brothers released six new stunning character posters for the highly anticipated Baz Luhrmann-directed adaptation of The Great Gatsby. These new characters posters feature actors Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire, Elizabeth Debicki, Isla Fisher, and Joel Edgerton.

For those of you unfamiliar with the story, here is an official synopsis:

The Great Gatsby follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz, bootleg kings, and sky-rocketing stocks. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio), and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy (Carey Mulligan), and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan (Joel Edgerton). It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without of the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.

The Great Gatsby is going to be hitting movie theaters on May 10. Take a look at these gorgeous character posters:
