Trailer – “Gangster Squad”

In a Trailer MegaPost I wrote back on May 20, I included the first official trailer for the Ruben Fleischer-directed drama Gangster Squad. (If you haven’t seen the post here is a link: https://trulyluminary.wordpress.com/2012/05/20/trailer-megapost-gangster-squad-argo-savages-and-people-like-us/)

There has recently been a new trailer released for this movie. Here is a YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=gqXOPanbyCs

This film has an absolutely amazing cast including: Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Nick Nolte, Robert Patrick, Michael Peña, Giovanni Ribisi, Anthony Mackie, Emma Stone, and finally, Sean Penn – (Really, I mean how can you go wrong?) Gangster Squad is set in 1949 Los Angeles and is a retelling of events surrounding the LAPD’s efforts to take back their city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time. This film is set to release September 7, 2012, and I cannot wait to see this stellar cast work together in this high stakes film!

What do you think of this new trailer? Is this a film that might interest you?

Trailer MegaPost – “Soldiers of Fortune,” “Robot and Frank,” “Last Ride,” and “Hotel Transylvania”

It has been a while, but it is time for another Trailer MegaPost here on TrulyLuminary! I hope you enjoy these trailers and decide to share them with others!

1. Soldiers of Fortunehttp://trailers.apple.com/trailers/independent/soldiersoffortune/

The action and adventure film Soldiers of Fortune, is director Maxim Korostyshevsky’s directorial debut and it looks quite interesting. The cast includes Christian Slater, Sean Bean, Ving Rhames, Dominic Monaghan, Freddy Rodriguez, and James Cromwell. Captain Craig McKenzie (Slater) is a former US special forces soldier and he is hired to protect a group of millionaires who want to experience thrills of war. However, the mission ends up going horribly wrong, and the millionaires get more than they bargained for. This film is set to hit theaters August 3,2012.

2. Robot and Frankhttp://trailers.apple.com/trailers/independent/robotfrank/

Robot and Frank is a science fiction-comedy that was directed by Jake Schreier. This film has a very strong cast that includes Frank Langella, James Marsden, Liv Tyler, Peter Sarsgaard, Susan Sarandon, Jeremy Sisto, and Jeremy Strong. Frank (Langella) is a retired cat burglar and he has two grown kids who are concerned about his well-being because he is living alone. They consider placing him in a nursing home, but Frank’s son (Marsden) chooses a different option. He buys Frank a walking, talking robot that is programmed to help improve his physical and mental health. This movie is a hilarious and somewhat heartbreaking story about finding friendship and family in some of the most unexpected places. Look for this film in theaters August 24,2012.

3. Last Ride – http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/independent/lastride/

Last Ride has a small cast that includes Hugo Weaving, Tom Russell, Anita Hegh, and John Brumpton. In this Glendyn Ivin-directed drama , a desperate father (Weaving) takes his ten year old son (Russell) on the run after committing a violent crime. As they go on a journey into the desert and an unknown future, their relationship and their need to survive, causes them to battle the elements and each other. The son, Chook, eventually takes control, and the choice he makes has a devastating effect on their lives. This film was released in Australia in 2009, but will be released in North America June 29, 2012.

4. Hotel Transylvaniahttp://trailers.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/hoteltransylvania/

This fun family Sony Pictures animation has a stellar voice cast including Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Kevin James, Selena Gomez, Steve Buscemi, CeeLo Green, David Spade, Molly Shannon, and Fran Drescher. Hotel Transylvania shares the story of Dracula (Sandler) and how he runs his monsters only resort, where monsters and their families can feel safe and are free to be the monsters they are without any humans around to disturb them. On one special weekend, Dracula invites some of the world’s most famous monsters–Frankenstein (James) and his bride, the Mummy (Green), the Invisible Man (Spade), a family of werewolves, and more–to celebrate his daughter Mavis’s (Gomez) 118th birthday. It ha never been any issue for Dracula to help and deal with all of fellow monsters at his hotel. However, things could change drastically when an ordinary guy (Sandberg) stumbles on the hotel and takes a shine to Mavis. Prepare to go on a journey to Transylvania when this movie comes out September 28, 2012.
