Warner Bros. has set the release date for the new J.K. Rowling film adaptation Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them for November 18, 2016.
The studio struck up a deal with Rowling last year for a film adaptation of her 2001 book of the same name, which is also the name of a textbook in the Harry Potter series.
Rowling is writing the screenplay for the new film. The film’s synopsis, according to IMDb: “The adventures of writer Newt Scamander in New York’s secret community of witches and wizards seventy years before Harry Potter reads his book in school.”
No one has been cast and there is currently no director attached to the project.
Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring premiered at day two of the 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival and photos of the red carpet event, a cast photo call, and a Festival Panel have hit the web!
Cast members Emma Watson, Taissa Farmiga, Israel Broussard, Katie Chang, and Claire Alys Julien were present for both the photo call and the major premiere event. However, cast members Erin Daniels, Gavin Rossdale, Kirsten Dunst, Leslie Mann, and Maika Monroe were not present.
As previously reported, Coppola wrote the screenplay and directed the film, which is based on real events, The story follows a group of fame-obsessed teenagers who use the Internet to track celebrities’ whereabouts and to try to rob their homes. Plus, it was also recently announced that The Bling Ring will be theatrically released on June 14, 2013.

Today is actually Emma Watson’s birthday, so I would like to just wish her a Happy Birthday! Watson won the Trailblazer Award last night at the MTV Movie Awards for her work in the film industry. Personally, I thought that the speeches and tribute to her work was very well done and captured her career so far quite nicely.

Last month, there were rumors circulating that Harry Potter actress, Emma Watson was going to star as the title role in Disney’s live-action version of Cinderella. However, Variety’s Marc Graser recently tweeted, “Emma Watson has decided NOT to star in Disney’s CINDERELLA.” He did not give any information behind Watson’s decision to back-out of the project, but in another tweet he stated, “Details to come.”
This version of the classic tale will be directed by Kenneth Branagh and actress Cate Blanchett is signed on to portray the evil stepmother. According to an article on Collider, the studio may go back to considering actresses Saoirse Ronan, Gabriella Wilde, and Alicia Vikander for the coveted role.

In the third Harry Potter-related casting announcement this week, Gary Oldman has signed on to co-star in Matt Reeves’ Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
According to an article on Collider, this sequel will be set 15 years after Rise of the Planet of the Apes and the state of humanity is under turmoil as the apes have caused devastation. Plus, the story is also going to follow a group of scientists in San Francisco who are finding a way to fight back against the apes. It is reported that Gary Oldman will be playing a character named Dreyfus, who is a leader of a human colony.
Oldman was not the only new cast member to join the Planet of the Apes sequel this week. Jason Clarke of Zero Dark Thirty and Kodi Smit-McPhee of Let Me In also signed on as two of the leads. Production is supposed to be picking up this spring so be sure to check in for more news!

Today has been a big day in casting news for some of the Harry Potter cast members. Daniel Radcliffe is in final negotiations to star in 20th Centry Fox’s new adaptation of Frankenstein. This project has gone through some directorial changes during production as Shawn Levy was going to direct before Paul McGuigan came in as his replacement.
According to an article on Variety, Radcliffe would be playing the role of Igor in this new adaptation. However, production is not set to start until this fall and Radcliffe is currently a part of the West End production of Cripple of Irishmaan. Disney has been releasing and developing several films over the past few years that are inspired by the animated classics the studio thrives on. This was kicked off with Tim Burton’s live-action version of Alice in Wonderland and has led to both Sam Rami’s Oz the Great and Powerful and Maleficent starring Angelina Jolie.
Another film that Disney currently has in the works is a Kenneth Branagh-directed, live-action version of Cinderella. Recently, casting rumors have started to surround Harry Potter actress, Emma Watson. Watson is in talks to star as the iconic princess. Actress Cate Blanchett is also attached to portray the evil stepmother.
