Casting News – Jessica Chastain joins “The Huntsman”

The Wrap and Deadline have reported that actress Jessica Chastain will be joining Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron in The Huntsman. As of right now, it looks like she will be playing the Huntsman’s love interest. (Maybe his beloved wife he mentioned in the first film?)

The sequel to 2012’s Snow White and the Huntsman will be taking a deeper look into the universe and showing backstory for the Huntsman (Hemsworth) and Raveena (Theron). Currently, it does not look like Kristen Stewart will be reprising her role as Snow White just yet as this sequel will be focusing more on the Huntsman’s backstory. Actor Nick Frost played a dwarf in the first film and it looks like he will be one of the only dwarves returning to the franchise.

Actress Emily Blunt has officially been cast as the new villain after reaching a deal with Universal. Visual effects specialist Cedric Nicolas-Troyan is making his directorial debut and Joe Roth will be coming back as producer.

There is currently no release date for the awaited sequel, but we expect that to be announced in the coming months.

What do you think of this casting choice? Are you looking forward to hearing more details about The Huntsman?
