Trailer – “Gangster Squad”

In a Trailer MegaPost I wrote back on May 20, I included the first official trailer for the Ruben Fleischer-directed drama Gangster Squad. (If you haven’t seen the post here is a link: https://trulyluminary.wordpress.com/2012/05/20/trailer-megapost-gangster-squad-argo-savages-and-people-like-us/)

There has recently been a new trailer released for this movie. Here is a YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=gqXOPanbyCs

This film has an absolutely amazing cast including: Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Nick Nolte, Robert Patrick, Michael Peña, Giovanni Ribisi, Anthony Mackie, Emma Stone, and finally, Sean Penn – (Really, I mean how can you go wrong?) Gangster Squad is set in 1949 Los Angeles and is a retelling of events surrounding the LAPD’s efforts to take back their city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time. This film is set to release September 7, 2012, and I cannot wait to see this stellar cast work together in this high stakes film!

What do you think of this new trailer? Is this a film that might interest you?

I also have a few other Trailer MegaPosts from May and June:

Trailer MegaPost – “Lawless,” “The Great Gatsby,” “Take This Waltz,” “The Words,” and “End of Watch”

I hope that you enjoyed my trailer MegaPost last week and are now excited about those films that I shared! My favorite trailers that I want to share with you this week are for: Lawless, The Great Gatsby, Take This Waltz, The Words, and End of Watch.

1. Lawless: http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/weinstein/lawless/

This film has a very strong cast and Shia LaBeouf’s role as Jack Bondurant could be a comeback role for him, something that will set him apart from the Transformers franchise. Other cast members are: Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain, Jason Clarke, Guy Pearce, Gary Oldman, Mia Wasikowska, and Dane DeHaan. Lawless is based on the true story of the infamous Bondurant Brothers, who were bootlegging siblings who made a run for the American Dream in Prohibition-era Franklin County, Virginia. Lawless is set to release on August 29, 2012.

2. The Great Gatsby: http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/wb/thegreatgatsby/

The Baz Luhrmann-directed adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby has an all-star cast with Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher, Jason Clarke, Elizabeth Debicki, Amitabh Bachchan, and Jack Thompson. The story follows Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) is a Midwesterner who moves to Long Island in the spring of 1922 and finds himself intrigued by the mysterious past and extravagant lifestyle of his neighbor, Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio). He is drawn into Gatsby’s circle and starts to witness obsession and tragedy. This highly anticipated film is set to release on Christmas Day this year.

3. Take This Waltz: http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/magnolia/takethiswaltz/

This Sarah Polley-directed film deals with some very real themes and topics that adult audiences will be able to relate to. The cast includes Michelle Williams, Seth Rogen, Luke Kirby, Sarah Silverman, Jennifer Podemski, Diane D’Aquila, Vanessa Coelho, and Graham Abbey. The film follows a happily married couple, Margot (Michelle Williams) and Lou Rubin (Seth Rogen). However, Margot falls for the artist Daniel (Luke Kirby) who lives across the street and when she learns that he lives so close, the certainty of her domestic life changes. Daniel and Margot’s relationship progresses and things begin to unfold. This movie is set to release on June 29, 2012.

4. The Words: http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/independent/thewords/

The Words follows a writer Rory Jansen (Bradley Cooper) who finally achieves the literary success he wanted after publishing a critically acclaimed novel. Yet, he didn’t write it. As things come back to haunt him and he continues to get literary attention, Jansen is forced to confront the price that must be paid for stealing another man’s work. The cast includes Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana, Jeremy Irons, Dennis Quaid, Olivia Wilde, and Ben Barnes. The Words is not set to hit theatres until September 21, 2012.

5. End of Watch: http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/independent/endofwatch/

A story of family, friendship, love, honor, and courage, End Of Watch has a great cast and story. Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Pena, Anna Kendrick, Natalie Martinez, Frank Grillo, America Ferrera, and David Harbour are on the talent roster. Gyllenhaal and Pena are Los Angeles police officers Taylor (Gyllenhaal) and Zavala (Pena), and it follows them as they patrol the streets of south central LA. The action of the film unfolds through footage from the handheld cameras of the police officers, gang members, surveillance cameras, and even citizens caught in the line of fire. The film deals with the cops who risk their lives on the job and the price they and their families have to pay. This action-packed film is set to release on September 28, 2012.
