Toronto International Film Festival – Oscar Buzz

According to articles on Entertainment Weekly and The Wrap, some amazing and promising films have premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) over the weekend and they are already generating Golden Globe and Oscar buzz.

Films that are gaining critical acclaim and generating award buzz are:

  • Silver Linings Playbook starring Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro, Jacki Weaver, and Chris Tucker.
  • Argo starring Ben Affleck, Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin, John Goodman, Kerry Bishé, Kyle Chandler, Rory Cochrane, Christopher Denham, Tate Donovan, Clea DuVall, Victor Garber, Zeljko Ivanek, Richard Kind, Scoot McNairy, Chris Messina, Michael Parks, and Taylor Schilling.
  • The Master starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, Jesse Plemons, David Warshofsky, Laura Dern, and Lena Endre.
  • The Sessions starring Helen Hunt and John Hawkes.
  • Anna Karenina starring Keira Knightley, Jude Law, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Kelly Macdonald, Matthew Macfadyen, Ruth Wilson, Domhnall Gleeson, Alicia Vikander, Olivia Williams, and Emily Watson.
  • The Impossible starring Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts.
  • Quartet starring Maggie Smith, Michael Gambon, and Billy Connolly.
  • Amour starring Emmanuelle Riva and Jean-Louis Trintignant.
  • The Perks of Being a Wallflower starring Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, and Ezra Miller.
  • Cloud Atlas starring Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Doona Bae, Ben Whishaw, James D’Arcy, Xun Zhou, Keith David, David Gyasi, Susan Sarandon, and Hugh Grant.
  • Seven Psychopaths starring Colin Farrell, Christopher Walken, Sam Rockwell, Woody Harrelson, Abbie Cornish, Tom Waits, Olga Kurylenko, and Zeljko Ivanek.

“Celeste and Jesse Forever” – Trailer and Photos

This Lee Toland Krieger-directed romantic comedy follows Celeste (Rashida Jones) and Jesse (Andy Samberg), who met in high school, married young and are growing apart. Celeste is an owner of her own media consulting firm, Jesse is once again unemployed and in no particular rush to do anything with his life. Celeste believes divorcing Jesse is the right thing to do, and if they do it now instead of later, they can stay friends. Jesse is still in love with her, but he respects her wishes and they begin the process of divorce. As the reality of the divorce hits Celeste, she realizes that her decision, which seemed mature and progressive, now seems impulsive and selfish.Celeste and Jesse Forever is a humorous and honest look at what happens when our heart is broken and the hard road it takes to heal it.

Some other cast members in this film include: Elijah Wood, Emma Roberts, Chris Messina, Ari Graynor, and Will McCormack. Both Rashida Jones and Will McCormack wrote the script and are starring in the movie. Celeste and Jesse Forever is set to hit theaters August 3, 2012.
