Production Exclusive – Developments in Movie Adaptation of John Green’s “Paper Towns”

With the adaptation of The Fault in Our Stars just months away from hitting theaters, Fox 2000 Pictures has likely seen that fans want more movies based on Green’s novels. Deadline is reporting that the production company has started development and will be adapting Green’s 2008 novel, Paper Towns.

Fox also seemed to like the team that worked on The Fault in Our Stars movie. It was announced yesterday that screenwriters Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber will once again be penning the script, and producers Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen will also be returning. There is currently no director signed on to the project.

John Green will be an executive producer on this project along with Neustadter and Weber. In some other interesting news, actor Nat Wolff, who portrays Isaac in Fault, has been cast as Quentin.

Paper Towns follows Quentin, a young man who shares a strange connection with his neighbour Margo. As kids, they found a man who committed suicide in a local park. Margo ends up distancing herself from Quentin. until one night when she drags him out on a crazy adventure of revenge. The next morning she has vanished and Quentin takes it upon himself to search for her.

Casting News – Jesse Eisenberg and Jeremy Irons Join “Batman Vs. Superman”

Warner Brothers Studios shared some exciting Batman Vs. Superman casting news today. Actors Jesse Eisenberg and Jeremy Irons have officially joined the awaited Man of Steel sequel. Eisenberg will be taking on the role of Lex Luthor and Irons will be portraying Alfred.

It is quite exciting that both of these characters will be brought into the franchise as Lex Luthor is a staple character in Superman and Alfred is a major character in the Batman universe.

According to an article on Variety, the film is still in early pre-production. This also became evident when it was announced recently the studio will be pushing the blockbuster from a prime July 2015 position to May 6, 2016.

Batman Vs. Superman is being directed by Zack Snyder and the screenplay will be penned by David S. Goyer. Plus, the cast also includes Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.

Casting News – Hugh Jackman Officially Joins Joe Wright’s “Pan”

Hugh Jackman does not usually play the villain, but it looks like he will be journeying into new acting territory in the Joe Wright-directed Pan. The actor will be taking on the role of Blackbeard in the Warner Brothers Peter Pan prequel. 

Jason Fuchs will be penning the script for this adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s classic story. A new part of the narrative will focus on the relationship between Peter Pan and Captain Hook working together before Hook ultimately turns evil.

Here is an official synopsis (via The Playlist):

A prequel to JM Barrie’s Peter Pan. When an orphan is taken to the magical world of Neverland, he becomes a hero to the natives and leads a revolt against the evil pirates.

According to Variety, Warner Brothers will be holding an open casting call for the roles of Peter Pan and Tiger Lily. For the time being, no other roles have officially been cast.

Casting Exclusive – Gal Gadot to Join “Batman Vs. Superman” as Wonder Woman

Warner Brothers and director Zack Snyder announced today that they have officially cast actress Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in the highly anticipated Batman Vs. Superman film.

The actress has been in three Fast and Furious films. She and many others are mourning the tragic passing of co-star Paul Walker. However, playing this iconic role could be a major breakthrough for Gadot as Warner Brothers is gearing towards doing a more with a Justice League movie franchise. She also had supporting roles in romantic comedies, Knight and Day and Date Night.

Zack Snyder had this to say about the iconic role of Wonder Woman: “Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”

Casting News – Tom Hardy Officially Signs on to Elton John Biopic “Rocketman”

There have been rumors circulating for months about Tom Hardy potentially be playing Elton John in a biopic entitled Rocketman. Yesterday, it was announced that the talented actor had officially signed on to this biopic and he was indeed cast as Sir Elton John.

With this news , some production details also came to light. Rocketman will be released in the U.S. by Focus Pictures and it will tell Elton John’s amazing story, starting with his childhood and then his rise to fame. The singer is going to record some of his biggest hits to match different emotional moments in the film.

Michael Gracey will be directing the film and Academy Award nominee Lee Hall will be writing an original screenplay. Movie Exclusive – First Look at Disney’s “Into the Woods”

Those familiar with the world of Broadway and musical theater are probably aware that the classic musical Into the Woods is getting adapted into a major motion picture. Well, Entertainment Weekly recently released an exclusive image, giving us our first official look at the film.

This exciting new image feature actress Meryl Streep as her character, The Witch. It also gives us a detailed look at the stylized world that is being formed by director Rob Marshall and his creative teams.

For those who may be unfamiliar with the story, Into the Woods follows a Baker and his wife, who are on a journey to try and find the witch to get her to lift a family curse she has cast on them. On their journey, they cross paths with several quirky fairytale characters, including Rapunzel, Cinderella, and Little Red Riding Hood.

Into the Woods also stars Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Billy Magnussen, Tracey Ullman, Christine Baranski, Lilla Crawford, and Daniel Huttlestone. Casting News MegaPost – Five New Cast Members Join “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay”

Over the past week, there have been several casting announcements for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2. These announcements have officially revealed the actors who will be playing Commander Lyme, Commander Paylor, Boggs, Castor, and Pollux.

Actress Lily Rabe will be playing Commander Lyme and actress Patina Miller will be playing Commander Paylor. Commander Lyme is a strong and independent female victor who is the commander of the rebellion in District 2 and Commander Paylor is the female leader of the rebellion for District 8 and she later becomes president of Panem. Rabe is best known for her current work on American Horror Story as Sister Mary Eunice McKee and Miller is known for her work on ABC’s All My Children.

Actor Mahershala Ali is going to be playing Boggs, who acts as President Coin’s assistant until Katniss agrees to be the Mockingjay. From there, it is his job to help protect Katniss and ensure that she stays alive. Ali has recently worked on the drama House of Cards, and was Tizzy in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Wes Chatham and Elden Henson also recently joined the ever-expanding cast as Castor and Pollux, respectively. Castor and Pollux are actually brothers who work together with Cressida (Natalie Dormer) and Messalla (Evan Ross) during the rebellion. The four of them form a film crew that follow Katniss on her journey as the Mockingjay. Chatham was recently in the Oscar-winning film, The Help, and Henson was most recently in the movie Jobs with Ashton Kutcher.
