Marvel is definitely not slacking on their promise to find a new director for the film so that the July 17, 2015 release date is not pushed back.
The studio met with a group of potential directors, which includes Adam McKay (Anchorman), Rawson Marshall Thurber (We’re the Millers), and Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Gangster Squad), to look into filling the gap left by Edgar Wright earlier this week. Wright, a favourite in the Marvel community, left the project due to creative differences with the studio.
Ant-Man fans, who do you hope gets the job? Is there someone that you think Marvel should consider?
Edgar Wright has stepped down as director of the film, citing “creative differences” with Marvel as the reason for his departure, and despite being attached to the project since 2006.
Marvel’s statement says that the split was amicable, and will not have an impact on the expected July 17, 2015 release, and that “a new director will be announced shortly.”
Ant-Man will star Paul Rudd in the title role, along with Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Michael Pena, and Corey Stole.
Who do you think Marvel should appoint as the new director? Are you sad to see Wright go?
It’s official, Marvel fans – Evangeline Lilly has been cast in Ant-Man, although it is currently unknown as to which character she’ll be playing.
The film, to be released on July 17, 2015, stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, otherwise known as Ant-Man. Here’s the synopsis from IMDb: “Biochemist Dr. Hank Pym uses his latest discovery, a group of subatomic particles, to create a size-altering formula. Though his first self-test goes awry, he develops an instrument that helps him communicate with and control insects.”
Hank Pym will be played by Michael Douglas.
