Roberto Orci Says Third Instalment in the “Star Trek” Franchise Will Stay True to Original Series

Looks like Captain Kirk is headed into deep space in the next Star Trek movie! Director Roberto Orci has confirmed that the reboot will be “staying true to it’s roots as it heads into deep space” (via Variety).

Orci said during a podcast for Geoff Boucher’s Humans From Earth, “In this movie, they are closer than they are to the original series characters that you have ever seen. They have set off on their five-year mission. So their adventure is going to be in deep space.”

This is great news for fans of the old series who are also fans of the of the reboot. It means that we’ll be seeing the USS Enterprise outside of the SanFran cityscape.

“In [‘Into Darkness’] they set out finally where the original series started. The first two films – especially the 2009 [‘Star Trek’] – was an origin story. It was about them coming together. So they weren’t the characters they were in the original series. They were growing into them and that continues on in the second movie.”

Star Trek 3 will be Orci’s directorial debut, although he will be writing on this movie in addition to his writing credits on the previous Star Trek films, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and the first two Transformers movies.

The film is expected to be released in 2016.

Movies – First trailer for ‘Dracula Untold’ Starring Luke Evans Shows a New Side of The Classic Story

The first full-length trailer of Dracula Untold has officially been released! Looking into classic villain backstories seems to be a common theme in new films coming out recently and Dracula Untold is no exception.

The film follows Vlad Tepes (Luke Evans) as he is trying to find a way to protect those he loves from his enemies. In the trailer, we see that he is a brave warrior, but he feels that he is not protecting his family enough. He goes searching for an answer and gains dark powers from a mysterious man (played by Charles Dance). However, he seems to lose control over his power and things may not go as planned:

Dracula Untold was directed by Gary Shore and also stars Sarah Gadon, Dominic Cooper, Charlie Cox, and Samantha Barks. Will you be seeing this when it is released on October 17, 2014?
