Lupita Nyong’o and Scarlett Johansson in Talks for Roles in Disney’s Live-Action Version of “The Jungle Book”

Disney’s adaptation of the Rudyard Kipling classic is looking to add the two actresses to the cast.

Johansson and Nyong’o are currently in negotiations, but are looking to join Idris Elba in the cast of the live-action/CG hybrid, directed by Jon Favreau, with the script written by Justin Marks.

Nyong’o will play Rakcha, the mother wolf who adopts Mowgli at the beginning of the film.

Johansson, if cast, will play CG animated Kaa, the python who eats other beings by hypnotizing them. Kaa is a secondary villain to Shere Khan, who is man-eating tiger voice by Idris Elba.

Mowgli has not yet been cast.

Warner Bros. is also adapting the Jungle Book material, with Andy Serkis set to direct.
