First Look – Exclusive New Photos from “The Last Five Years”

Fans of Broadway and the musical theater world were no doubt excited to hear that actors Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan were cast in the movie adaptation of the musical, The Last Five Years. Kendrick and Jordan signed on to the project as the two leads, Cathy Hyatt and Jamie Wellerstein, back in early March. The Last Five Years was written by Jason Robert Brown, has been performed off-Broadway, and has won several awards since it opened in 2001.

This highly awaited film is under production and is currently filming in New York City. The first two photos from the set feature Kendrick and Jordan in what seems to be an emotional scene. Of course, based on the storyline outlined below, this musical seems like it would have many emotional moments.

For those who may be unfamiliar with the musical,  the story follows Cathy, a struggling actress, and Jamie, a novelist who is beginning to gain some success with his writing. The story for this musical is quite unique as Jamie’s story is told in chronological order, starting when they first meet, but Cathy’s story is told in reverse, starting at the end of their marriage.

The Last Five Years also stars Nic Novicki, Natalie Kneep, Sherri Rene Scott, Laura Harrier, and Meg Carriero. Plus, Richard LaGravenese will be directing, writing, and co-producing with Lauren Versel, Kurt Deutsch, and Janet Brenner for Lucky Monkey Pictures.
