Casting Rumor – Anna Kendrick Could Journey “Into the Woods” as Cinderella

Casting rumors circulating actress Anna Kendrick are stating she is in talks to play Ciinderella in the Disney adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, Into the Woods. The actress revealed her vocal talents last year in Pitch Perfect and is currently working on an adaptation of another musical, The Last Five Years.

This project already has a great cast lined up with Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Jake Gyllenhaal, Chris Pine, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Tracy Ullman and Christine Baranski all in various stages of negotiations. Corden will be playing the Baker, Ullman will be playing Jack the Giant Killer’s mother, and Baranski will be playing Cinderella’s Stepmother.

Into the Woods is a very unique, interesting, and darkly comedic musical. The story follows a Baker and his wife, who are on a journey to try and find the witch to get her to lift a family curse she has cast on them. On their journey, they cross paths with several quirky fairytale characters, including Rapunzel, Cinderella, and Little Red Riding Hood.

Cinderella’s situation is a little different in this musical as she is already married to the Prince (Pine), but it turns out he is quite vain. However, she is still trying to find herself and her place in the world.

Rod Marshall will be directing Disney’s adaptation of this popular musical. Plus, John DeLuca is producing, James Lapine wrote the screenplay, and David Krane will be working on the music for the highly anticipated movie musical.
