Exclusive First Look at “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters”

Those of you who are fans of the Percy Jackson series will be excited to know some exclusive stills have been released for the long-awaited sequel, Sea of Monsters.

The first film in the series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, was released just over three years ago now. I believe that part of the long production delay was because of Logan Lerman’s busy schedule. Between filming and promoting his other films, Lerman has been a busy young rising star. However, his schedule finally cleared up and he made it up to Vancouver, BC to film the sequel just last year.

My dad was actually a part of the crew and worked on the sets for Sea of Monsters when it was in town My little brother is a fan of the series and so my dad took him to set one day and he got to meet Lerman and Alexandra Daddario! As you can imagine, he was quite excited, but nervous at the same time.

These five new stills feature Lerman, Daddario, Brandon T. Jackson, Douglas Smith, Leven Rambin, and Stanley Tucci. According to Page to Premiere, a trailer for this highly anticipated sequel is going to be played in front of The Host when it hits theaters this week! Sea of Monsters is currently set for a August 16, 2013 release.

Be sure to check in soon for an update on a trailer and let me know what you think of these new stills!

Broadway – Emilia Clarke as Holly Golightly in Production of “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”

Entertainment Weekly exclusively premiered some of the first production photos from the stage version of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Of course, this Broadway production is an adaptation of the classic 1961 Breakfast at Tiffany’s film starring Audrey Hepburn. Emilia Clarke stars as Holly Golightly, Cory Michael Smith stars as Fred, and George Wendt stars as Joe Bell. Look at the full cast list and prodcution details here.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Clarke addresses her experiences working on the production, how she has to do 20 costume changes in one show, and taking on such an iconic role on stage. In the interview Clarke states: “It’s not the movie, it’s not Audrey Hepburn, but it is Capote’s words and Capote’s beautiful characters. I’ve just been trying to live out his words…the film sort of had to take a back seat. It’s very much an entirely different piece.” (Read the full interview here.)

Breakfast at Tiffany’s opens on March 20 and is on a limited-engagement Broadway run. Would you be interested in seeing this production? Do you think Emilia Clarke suits the role? Take a look at the exclusive photos taken by Nathan Johnson below:

Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan to Star in Film Adaptation of ‘The Last Five Years”

Fans of the Broadway musical, The Last Five Years, may be excited to know that a film adaptation is in the works. Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan have both signed on to play the leads, Cathy Hyatt and Jamie Wellerstein. The Last Five Years was written by Jason Robert Brown, has been performed off-Broadway, and has won several awards since it opened in 2001.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the musical, Kendrick’s character, Cathy, is a struggling actress and Jordan’s character, Jamie is a novelist who is beginning to gain some success with his writing. The story for this musical is quite unique as Jamie’s story is told in chronological order, starting when they first meet, but Cathy’s story is told in reverse, starting at the end of their marriage.

Richard LaGravenese will be directing, writing, and co-producing this film adaptation with Lauren Versel, Kurt Deutsch, and Janet Brenner for Lucky Monkey Pictures.

Are you familiar with this musical? Do you think Kendrick and Jordan will work well together? What do you think of these casting choices?  If you are not familiar with the musical, does this sound like something you would be interested in seeing?
