TrulyLuminary’s Celebrity Sightings – Michael Bublé

Last week, I had the pleasure of attending my little brother’s Christmas concert and something quite exciting happened! Michael Bublé had showed up to visit some family members and watch them perform. Mr. Bublé is from Vancouver, British Columbia and so he was home for the holidays and spending time with family.

To the surprise of the teachers, students, and parents present at the performance, Bublé got up and sang “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” with the kids! He has an amazing voice as he sang completely acapella and sounded great. Michael Bublé seems like a nice guy and he was really great with the kids. He was also pretty patient and very friendly with everyone because a lot of people were asking to get their picture taken with him. However, he did not seem to mind and was enjoying every minute of the kids’ performance.

Hopefully there will be more celebrity sightings for me to share with you guys here on TrulyLuminary and this seems like a pretty good start! Watch his performance with the kids here. Plus, check out these pictures my mom got of him performing below:

Seven Featurettes and a New “On My Own” Trailer released for “Les Misérables”

Since there is only one more day until Tom Hooper’s Les Misérables hits theaters, I thought that I should write a post about a few  new featurettes and a new trailer that were recently released. You can watch all of these videos exclusively on YouTube and I will share links below.

I previously posted about four other featurettes that came out earlier in December. I warned Les Misérables fans, if you do not want to spoil anything then it might be best you not watch these videos until after you see the movie. Well for this post, I will reiterate that warning, especially if you do not want to spoil anything.

The first of the featurettes includes short interviews with some of the cast, director Tom Hooper, and producer Cameron Mackintosh. In this featurette, they are all talking about Jackman and how he truly embodies the character of Jean Valjean and the amount of effort that he put into the role. The rest of the featurettes include  a look at sound mixing and editing, a look at the scale of the opening number of the film, a look at how Samantha Barks got her role,  and a look at how the soundtrack for the film was scored. Plus, there is another featurette that talks about how the Broadway actor, Colm Wilkinson, starred as Jean Valjean when the musical first opened and is now playing the bishop in the film. Finally, the last featurette has interviews with the cast and production teams as they talk about the set pieces and filming at the famous Pinewood Studios.

The trailer features Samantha Barks as Éponine as she is singing “On My Own.” There are also a few new clips intertwined with Samantha’s wonderful performance. Watch the exclusive “On My Own” Trailer here.  Plus, here are the links to all of the featurettes:

Featurette #1 – Sound Mixing/Editing

Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes look at Season Two of “Smash”

NBC’s Smash will be returning in just seven weeks! For those of you who are fans of the show, this is very exciting news of course. However, you will also be excited to know that NBC recently posted a behind-the-scenes video for season two.

This video gives fans an exclusive look at what is to come in season two. Plus, the cast talks a bit about the “new energy” Smash has going into the new season as they have a new showrunner and executive producer, Joshua Safran. Watch the behind-the-scenes video here.

Safran recently sat down with Entertainment Weekly and he revealed a little bit about season two and simple changes that were made to the overall feeling of the show. In the interview he states:  “There’s no bowling alley sing-alongs. There are fantasy sequences, but so far not on the level of the Bollywood cover.”

Safran also addresses what was like replacing Theresa Rebeck and heading into a second season: “Coming into a show second season where there was so much discussion about positives and negatives about the first season gives you that rare chance to step back and go, ‘What can I change?’ So we were able to [revisit] things like the scarves. We address it head on.” Finally, he wanted to let fans know that things are not going to drastically change and he wanted to remain loyal to the overall feeling of the show: “As a viewer, I really loved the show. It’s literally just reaching in and moving the tiny pieces that weren’t connecting, the gears that weren’t fully aligned. But it’s small shifts. If you loved Smash last year, you are not seeing a radically different show. And that was important to me because I loved Smash last year.”

You can read the rest of the interview with Safran in the recent issue of Entertainment Weekly. What do you think of the behind-the-scenes video? What do you think of the interview with Josh Safran? Are you looking forward to season two of Smash? Also – take a look at this new cast poster that features cast members from season one and new cast members being introduced on the show during season two!

First Official Image for “Kill Your Darlings” Starring Daniel Radcliffe

Collider recently shared the first image of Daniel Radcliffe, Dane DeHann, Jack Houston, and Ben Foster in their film Kill Your Darlings. Directed and co-written by John Krokidas, Kill Your Darlings is a drama about the origins of the Beat movement. The cast also includes actors Michael C. Hall, Elizabeth Olsen, David Cross, Kyra Sedgwick, and David Rasche.

The film is set to premiere at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, which runs from January 17 until January 27. Take a look at the first official image and read the official film synopsis below:

“While he is attending Columbia University in 1944, the young Allen Ginsberg’s life is turned upside down when he sets eyes on Lucien Carr, an impossibly cool and boyishly handsome classmate. Carr opens Ginsberg up to a bohemian world and introduces him to William Burroughs and Jack Kerouac. Repelled by rules and conformity in both life andliterature, the four agree to tear down tradition and make something new, ultimately formulating the tenets of and giving birth to what became the Beat movement. On the outside, looking in, is David Kammerer, a man in his thirties desperately in love with Carr. When Kammerer is found dead, and Kerouac, Burroughs, and Carr are arrested in conjunction with the murder, the nascent artists’ lives change forever.

Daniel Radcliffe fearlessly takes on the role of the young Ginsberg on a journey of discovery—to find his sexuality and his voice as a writer. Cowriter/director John Krokidas takes on this less-explored early chapter of the Beats and captures the period with visual flair, kinetic energy, and imagination. Kill Your Darlings is the riveting true story of a crime, a friendship, and the nexus that spawned a cultural movement.”
