“Breaking Dawn” – Two Exclusive New Images and Bill Condon Interview

MTV recently released two new exclusive images from the final film in the Twilight franchise, Breaking Dawn – Part Two. The first of which features just Edward Cullen (Pattinson) and the second image features Edward and Bella standing with Carlisle, members of the Amazon Coven, and members of the Denali Coven.

Bill Condon, the director of the final two Twilight films, recently sat down with MTV News for an interview and here is what he had to say:

MTV News: How are you feeling? What stage of the post-production process are you in?

Bill Condon: We’re at the stage of mixing and doing color timing and adding that last big bunch of visual effects shots, and that’s where it gets complicated because the [most challenging] ones always come in last, so it’s just making sure that they look as good as they can, that’s the big thing right now.

MTV: Is there one specific FX shot that you’re particularly pleased with?

Condon: Oh man, there are so many that are so beautiful. I love the way, it’s very creepy, but I love the way that Alec’s mist looks. He has that mist that can make you blind, deaf and dumb, so that’s looking really good. It feels like the best Hammer [horror] movie you’ve ever seen. It’s a little different [type of mist] and sort of has tentacles that can get inside you and all that stuff.

MTV: I’m so excited to see all the powers! I spoke with Mackenzie Foy recently, the most adorable person the planet, and she talked about how she had fun filming her “power scenes.”

Condon: I know, she’s adorable, right? Her power, she touches somebody and she can show them what’s in her head and that you develop. There are some visual things, but a lot of that is done through Carter Burwell’s score, but then just recently in the mixing Dane Davis, who is a brilliant sound designer, he did “The Matrix” and so many other movies, he had her just speak and read poetry and things like that, and he’s turned it into hundreds of tracks. You don’t actually hear words but it becomes the chattering of her [voice], it’s a very abstract effect that I’ve never heard before. It’s really cool.

MTV: In the last stages of mixing and production, is there something that during filming you liked but have come to love in seeing onscreen?

Condon: There’s a lot of that. I would say the whole climax, I feel like it’s the biggest musical number I’ve ever directed. It does feel, when you finally get the rhythm of that right, it makes it, I hope, very satisfying.

MTV: What was the biggest, busiest most fun day on set?

Condon: The biggest and most fun, just because of the surprise they pulled off, we went to the top, top, top as far as you can get in this arena to get the widest shot of the [battle]field with the Volturi on one side and the Cullen group on the other and on the last take suddenly you hear the Eurythmics and they all start to do this intimately choreographed dance that they’d worked out. It was a huge day and the biggest party ever.

MTV: Well we can only hope that that ends up on the DVD. Condon: I think it is, yeah.

MTV: Have you made any more decisions about the soundtrack? You have so many musicians in that cast.

Condon: Oh yeah, that’s interesting. I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about it yet but we’ve just now finally firmed it up so that’s exciting.

MTV: How about the running time? Is that official yet?

Condon: Yeah. The running time is one hour and 56 minutes, one minute shorter than the first one and as such, I think the shortest of all of them.

MTV: We talked about the biggest and busiest day, what about the most quiet, emotional moment?

Condon: There are a lot of those, I would say. … I don’t want to talk about one scene because that’s a surprise but you know what, the scene when Charlie meets vampire Bella for the first time and then meets Renesmee. This is a movie that really only has one fully human person, if you treat Taylor [Lautner] as a magical creature, so Charlie is our way into this whole thing. If Charlie can believe it and understand, I think the rest of the audience can too. Of course, Billy Burke is such an incredible actor who can really humanize any moment, so watching him and Kristen together in that scene, I remember everything was a total pleasure in that.

MTV: It’s a little ways off yet, but have you planned a vacation?

Condon: [Laughs] My idea of a beach holiday is going to New York for two weeks, just going and hanging out. I think I’ll do something like that.

MTV: What advice do you have for the fans on how to pass the time before the movie comes out?

Condon: Oh that’s an interesting question. There’s a slight surprise with the score. [They should] listen to all the old CD’s of all the composers [of the other “Twilight” films], maybe that, refresh themselves on the different themes.”

What do you think of these new photos? What do you think of this interview? Are you getting excited for Breaking Dawn – Part Two?

“Glee” – Season Four Cast Portraits and Exclusive Photos

New cast portraits and images from the first episode of Season Four of Glee have officially been released. The first episode of the season is entilted “The New Rachel” because as the new school year begins, “New Directions” needs to find their next star performer.

These new photos feature most of the characters we love, of course, and some of the new characters that we will be meeting for the first time this season. However, Dianna Agron (Quinn) and Jayma Mays (Emma) were not in any of these photos because they were both “on location” filming other projects when the photoshot took place. That does not mean we will not be seeing them this season though, so Gleeks, not to worry!

So what do you think of these portraits and photos? What do you think of the first look at some of the new characters? Are you anxiously awaiting the Season Four premiere? Be sure to share your thoughts in the comments below! Remember Season Four premieres Thursday, September 13.

Rising Star Monday – Sam Claflin

Lionsgate recently announced that actor Sam Claflin will indeed be playing the coveted role of Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which has gained Claflin even more attention in the entertainment world. That is why he is this week’s “Rising Star” here on TrulyLuminary.

Sam Claflin broke into the business in 2010 with roles in the television shows The Pillars of the Earth and Any Human Heart. That same year, he was cast as Phillip Swift in the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film, On Stranger Tides, which was released on May 20, 2011. Most recently, Claflin appeared in Snow White and The Huntsman as Prince William; Snow White’s childhood friend. He is currently filming the John Pogue horror The Quiet Ones with co-stars Erin Richards and Jared Harris. And finally, after months of rumors and speculation, Hunger Games fans got what they had been waiting for when Lionsgate officially announced  that Sam Claflin will be portraying Finnick Odair in Catching Fire.

People Magazine wrote a post about Claflin titled “Five Things to Know About Sam Claflin,” so here are five things that you Hunger Games fans might want to know about our Finnick Odair:

1. He originally dreamed of being a pro soccer player.
Claflin, who hails from Norwich in the east of England, always wanted to play professional soccer for Norwich City when he grew up. “I played football every day of the week [as a kid],” he told the Sun newspaper last year. “Any evening I would be playing on our local road with my brothers and friends. It was 24/7 football back then.” Claflin trained with the club’s youth team, but at 16 he broke his ankle, and his soccer dreams were over. By that time, though, he had caught the acting bug. “It was very daunting, that big career change,” he said. “But luckily it worked out.”

2. He’s one of Hollywood’s fastest rising young stars.
Following roles in the TV series The Pillars of the Earth and Any Human Heart, Claflin got his big break in 2011, playing Phillip Swift in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. He followed that up with the plum role of William in Snow White and the Huntsman, opposite Kristen Stewart. “I’m truly sort of flabbergasted,” he told MTV at the time about working with the Twilight star.

3. With his humble background, he’s a bit starstruck by show business.
“My mum is a classroom assistant at the high school I went to and Dad is an accountant and a finance manager for a charity radio station,” he told the Sun. “I can’t quite fathom what is going on with my life at the moment. For me to be able to play across from some of the great names is unbelievable. It is so bizarre. I used to play with Lego, and now I am a Pirates of the Caribbean Lego figurine.”

4. He has a superstar for a mentor.
Starring in the Pirates movie brought another benefit for Claflin: He got some guidance from one of Hollywood’s biggest names. “Johnny Depp gave me the best advice,” he told the L.A. Times Magazine. “He said, ‘Stay grounded. Remember where you came from.’”

5. Sorry, folks, he’s off the market.
Claflin would be one of Hollywood’s most eligible young bachelors … if he weren’t already dating British actress Laura Haddock, 26. “Back in London and reunited with @laurajhaddock,” he wrote on Twitter last week. “Happy happy happy.”

Be sure to keep an eye on this one, he is going to become very famous because of Catching Fire and will go on to have a great career in the film industry.

Exclusive Photos from the “Silver Linings Playbook”

New stills have been released from the David O. Russell-directed film, Silver Linings Playbook. Russell adapted Matthew Quick’s 2008 novel of the same title into a screenplay and film. This movie has a very strong and talented cast behind it, including Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro, Julia Stiles, Jacki Weaver, Chris Tucker, John Ortiz, and Shea Whigham.

As I mentioned in a previous post, Silver Linings Playbook  follows Pat Solatano (Cooper), a teacher who has had a bad string of luck and ended up losing everything – his house, his job, and his wife. After spending time in a state institution on a plea bargain, he ends up living with his parents (De Niro and Weaver.) Pat wants to rebuild his life,  stay positive, and try to reunite with his wife, even with the circumstances of their separation. Pat’s parents are concerned about him and want to make sure that he can get back of his feet and begin to function normally again. However, Pat meets a mysterious girl with problems of her own named Tiffany (Lawrence) and things start to get complicated. Tiffany offers to help Pat reconnect with his wife, but only if he’ll do something important for her in return. An unexpected bond begins to form between them and both of their lives change for the better. This movie is set to hit the theaters November 21, 2012.

Lawrence and Cooper are also going to be appearing together in the 1929-set Serena, which is set to be released sometime in 2013.

If you have not seen the trailer be sure to watch it here. Take a look at these stills and let me know what you think!

“Glee” – Two New Season Four Posters

Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy has been giving fans little sneak peeks of season four on his Twitter; including a first look at Kate Hudson‘s character. Just recently, Murphy tweeted images of two new poster pieces of poster art for season four of the hit show.

The first poster is of Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) and her NYADA dance instructor, Cassandra July (Kate Hudson). And the other poster is a group shot, which features new and returning cast members. However, Quinn (Dianna Agron) is not in this particular group shot and this has caused some worry amongst those who are fans of Quinn Fabray. Another factor that caused fans to worry, was the fact that the poster has signs pointing to New York, Los Angeles, Lima, St. Louis, which are all various cities where McKinley’s alumni are now living, but there is no arrow reading “New Haven,” where Quinn is supposed to be attending college. Does this mean will we not be seeing any more Agron’s character?

Well, Ryan Murphy recently tweeted: “Gleeks, please relax. Dianna is still on the show. We love her and have great plans for Quinn.#QuinnFabrayLives.”

Take a look at these new posters and let me know what you think in the comments below! And remember season four premieres on Thursday, September 13, 2012!
