Jon Favreau returning to “Iron Man 3” – as an actor

The director of the first two films in Iron Man franchise, Jon Favreau, is not directing Iron Man 3. However, he will be reprising his role of Happy Hogan, Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr.) bodyguard-sidekick.

Cameras starting rolling on the film on Wednesday, May 23,2012, in North Carolina, under the new director Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang). The Iron Man 3 cast will include Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, as well as new castmates Rebecca Hall, Guy Pearce, Ben Kingsley, James Badge Dale, and Ashley Hamilton.

Jon Favreau directed the first two Iron Man movies and appeared as Happy Hogan in a cameo in Iron Man and his character had a bigger role in Iron Man 2. Right now, it is still unclear as to how big his role will be in the third film of the franchise.

Are you looking forward seeing the newest installment in the Iron Man franchise? Do you think that the film will be different than the other two because of the change in directors?

Dammit, Favreau! “Iron Man” was so good because his direction was so solid. It was like he directed around the character instead of fitting the character into his directing style.
